¶
Persistent routed experts: TMA producer, MXFP8 activations, FP4 x MXFP8 FC1/FC2 MMAs,
SiTU hidden exchange and output epilogue. Capacity <= 8 keeps the batch's activations in
SMEM; capacity > 8 (grouped) runs (expert, <= 8 tokens) units whose FC1 stages gather
8-row slices of the grid-quantized batch. Capacity > 64 (wide, up to WIDE_ROWS
tokens) is the grouped engine over a wide workspace (WIDE_UNITS unit slots, a
WIDE_ROWS-row plan), always pregrouped by ExpertsGroupKernel.
Classes:
-
ExpertsGeometry–Static plain-input geometry. No cluster-local or multicast storage. The workspace
-
ExpertsGroupKernel–One CTA groups the routes into the workspace unit table that pregrouped

-
ExpertsPlanKernel–Standalone plan writer (no routing kernel in front): one CTA per token.
Functions:
-
claim–Relaxed GPU-scope fetch-add (FC2 tail claims): the counter before the add.
-
fc2_pairs–TP8 FC2 jobs are tile pairs on the incremental producer from capacity 4 (the
-
mx_block–MXFP8 of one 32-BF16 block (16 words): eight e4m3x4 words and the E8M0 scale.
-
plan_chunk–Write 8-element
chunk(four BF16x2words) oftokenas MXFP8 into -
plan_rows–Rows of the plan a grouped engine of
capacityreads (64, or WIDE_ROWS). -
plan_xsf–Byte offset of the scale words in a
rows-row plan. -
stage–One FC1/FC2 stage.
mma: (TMEM accumulator, weight desc, activation desc); -
swizzled–Byte offset of 16-byte
chunkofrowin a 128B-swizzled 8-row image.
ExpertsGeometry
¶
Static plain-input geometry. No cluster-local or multicast storage. The workspace is capacity-independent; capacity > 8 swaps the batch's SMEM activation image for per-slot 8-row images, which frees a sixth weight stage, and keeps per-CTA windows of the unit tables (expert, 8 pair rows) in the misc block.
Methods:
-
image–Compact hidden image of
unitin theparityhalf of the workspace.

ExpertsGroupKernel
¶
Bases: ExpertsKernel
One CTA groups the routes into the workspace unit table that pregrouped
ExpertsKernel read (launched after routing, beside the shared expert). Every
experts call advances all 160 call counters, so entry 0 stands for each CTA's.

ExpertsKernel
¶
Bases: ExpertsGeometry
The engine for one capacity and persistent grid. CTAs wait on other clusters'
partials (load_hidden, partials, finalize), so
PersistentExperts.prepare checks the grid is co-resident. It is not launched
cooperatively: that forfeits the PDL prologue overlap (1-2% decode at B4-B8).
publish stages FC2 rows for finalize: routing weights replace the output
arg, and (latent multicast, parity, rank) follow the SiTU scalars; "twoshot":
(receive slots [3 x TP, 64, 3584/TP], their owners' bases, parity x TP + rank) of
common.twoshot instead. Capacity > 8 (grouped) takes the plan (PLAN_BYTES:
MXFP8 x) in place of x. stream runs capacity <= 8 on the incremental producer
and CTA-scoped waits (grouped always). listed (wide, pregrouped) builds its unit
windows from the routing lists (LIST_WORDS, passed as ids) instead of a unit
table. pregrouped (grouped) reads the unit table
ExpertsGroupKernel left in the workspace instead of grouping the routes itself.
steal (grouped) balances the end: each CTA's last zone FC2(B) grains (TP8 a
tile pair, TP16 three tiles) are claimed by the owner from the front and by the
victims CTAs before it from the back, through one counter per CTA re-armed by
call parity; a stolen grain is computed exactly as by its owner.
Methods:
-
balance–FC2(B) jobs (three stages each) dealt so that every CTA's FC1 + FC2 stage
-
claims–Grains of one zone (
grainsfrom jobbase) claimed through -
clear_table–route's first-occurrence table, cleared before the dependency wait. -
clear_x–Zero the padded token rows and the scale image (capacity <= 8).
-
consume_static–consumefor the streamed B<=8 engine with TP8 FC2 pairs: the MMA warp -
end_ring–The end marker (kind 2) in the next ring slot.
-
fc2–Rows of
unit: slots of tokens 0..7, or grouped pair indices. -
fc2_dynamic–Every FC2 tile-pair job (unit-major over all distinct experts) claimed
-
fc2_job–FC2 job
j(absolute) of windowgroup: queue a new unit, then issue -
fc2_pair–The three 16 KB stages of FC2 tiles
tileandtile + 1: chunks 0-1 of -
fc2_steal–FC2 with tail stealing: FC2(A) and the static head of FC2(B), the owner's
-
fetch–Weight box and scale bytes (
more: a secondsize-byte scale run). -
fetch_windows–Pregrouped: the misc scalars from the unit table's header (every CTA's call
-
finalize–Each epilogue warp polls (and re-arms) the 16 staged rows of its 64-column
-
first_unit–First unit of this CTA's FC1 or FC2 range in
group. -
gather_x–Warp 3 (grouped): cp.async each FC1 stage's 8-row MXFP8 slice and scale
-
group–Grouped routing: per-expert token masks; expert e's
-
issue–One grouped stage: wait for its slot, publish the metadata, expect and issue
-
list_windows–Listed: this call's units are ceil(n_e / 8) per expert in expert order over
-
load_x–Warps 2..11 preload their 32-BF16 x blocks before the dependent launch.
-
local–Window index of
unit(windows: FC1 A, FC1 B, FC2 A, FC2 B). -

partials–Publish non-owner fragments, or reduce the owner's remaining pieces.
-
partition–FC1(A), FC1(B), FC2(A), FC2(B) work partitions.

-
rearm–Re-arm the other parity's images: all 128, or the last grouped call's.
-
route–Dedupe after the dependency wait. Capacity <= 2: one work item per routing
-
row_sources–Byte offsets of this lane's four MXFP8 rows and scale row of window unit
-
schedule–Returns the stage's (kind, a, b, c) metadata and its TMA arguments.

balance(ranges, cta)
¶
FC2(B) jobs (three stages each) dealt so that every CTA's FC1 + FC2 stage count is within one job of the grid's mean, once FC2(B) has >= 2 jobs per CTA (so the cut points stay monotone); else the even split stays. Only FC2 boundaries move: the FC1 split, hence every FP32 partial sum, is unchanged.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
claims(ring, state, maps, experts, ranges, counter, base, grains, back)
¶
Grains of one zone (grains from job base) claimed through
counter (baseline -1: low half front claims, high half back claims) from
the front or the back; the next claim is in flight while one issues.
Returns the state and the grains taken.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
clear_table(sm)
¶
route's first-occurrence table, cleared before the dependency wait.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
clear_x(sm, tid, batch)
¶
Zero the padded token rows and the scale image (capacity <= 8).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
consume_static(sm, tmem, ranges)
¶
consume for the streamed B<=8 engine with TP8 FC2 pairs: the MMA warp
walks stream's FC1 runs (one accumulator per tile segment) and FC2 tile
pairs from ranges and only waits for each slot's bytes. The MMAs, scale
copies, commits and published accumulator metadata are consume's, in the
same order (bit-identical outputs). dynamic: the FC2 pairs are the ones the
producer claimed, read from each pair's first slot up to the end marker; else
the end marker slot is not read.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
end_ring(barriers, metadata, slot, phase, issued)
¶
The end marker (kind 2) in the next ring slot.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fc2(sm, workspace, output, values, unit, tile, ranges)
¶
Rows of unit: slots of tokens 0..7, or grouped pair indices.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fc2_dynamic(ring, slot, phase, issued, maps, experts, ranges, ws)
¶
Every FC2 tile-pair job (unit-major over all distinct experts) claimed from the grid-wide counter (-1 at entry), the next claim in flight while one issues; units are queued for the hidden loader as they change, then -1. Every CTA ends on exactly one claim past the jobs, so the grid's last claim returns total + grid - 2: its CTA re-arms the counter for the next call (no CTA of this call touches it again; the next call starts after this one).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fc2_job(ring, state, maps, experts, ranges, j, group)
¶
FC2 job j (absolute) of window group: queue a new unit, then issue
its stages (TP8 a tile pair, TP16 a tile) exactly as the static walk does.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fc2_pair(ring, slot, phase, issued, maps, expert, unit, tile)
¶
The three 16 KB stages of FC2 tiles tile and tile + 1: chunks 0-1 of
each (1 KB scales), then chunk 2 of both (map 5, two 512 B scale runs).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fc2_steal(ring, state, maps, experts, ranges, workspace, parity)
¶
FC2 with tail stealing: FC2(A) and the static head of FC2(B), the owner's zone from the front, then the zones of CTAs cta + 1 .. cta + victims from the back while their units fit window 3; the queue ends with -1.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fetch(sm, desc, scales, full, slot, row, chunk, offset, size, more=None)
¶

Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
fetch_windows(sm, workspace)
¶
Pregrouped: the misc scalars from the unit table's header (every CTA's call
counters are equal between calls), then thread w * 16 + i copies unit i of
window w (FC1 A, FC1 B, FC2 A, FC2 B as partition) out of the table. One
compact block (this code runs cold at kernel start).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
finalize(workspace, weights, batch, box)
¶
Each epilogue warp polls (and re-arms) the 16 staged rows of its 64-column lines and multicasts their weighted sum into latent slot (parity, rank) of the [3, TP, 64, 3584] mailbox (two-shot: pushes every 8 columns to their owner); lines stride over every CTA's epilogue warps.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
first_unit(ranges, fc2, group)
¶
First unit of this CTA's FC1 or FC2 range in group.
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
gather_x(sm, plan, ranges, batch)
¶
Warp 3 (grouped): cp.async each FC1 stage's 8-row MXFP8 slice and scale rows out of the plan (complete before the dependency wait returns) into its slot; full[slot] counts the 32 lanes besides the producer (which stands in for them on FC2 stages and the end). Padded rows repeat the unit's first token (their outputs are dropped).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
group(sm, ids, workspace, batch, scalars=None)
¶
Grouped routing: per-expert token masks; expert e's
tokens, in token order, fill ceil(n / 8) units numbered in expert order. Unit
rows hold pair indices (token * 16 + slot), -1 when padded. Misc scalars:
units, call, grouped call (scalars given: the units only).

issue(ring, slot, phase, issued, meta, tma, fc2, more=None)
¶
One grouped stage: wait for its slot, publish the metadata, expect and issue the weight box and scales (FC2: standing in for the gather warp's 32 arrivals); returns the advanced (slot, phase, issued).
Source code in vllm/models/kimi_k3/nvidia/specialized_decode/cutedsl/moe/experts.py
list_windows(sm, workspace, lists)
¶
Listed: this call's units are ceil(n_e / 8) per expert in expert order over
the routing lists of parity generation & 1; a unit's rows are its expert's
listed pairs 8v..8v+7 (-1 padded; any pair order: every token's FC1/FC2 column
is computed alone, so outputs do not depend on it). Every CTA scans the 896
counts into unit bases (SMEM scratch at 0, before the weight ring is used),
copies its four windows as fetch_windows does, and clears its share of the
other parity's counts for the next call.
